What it does

The Shopify AI Toolkit connects AI coding tools to Shopify's developer docs, API schemas and Shopify CLI store management1. It validates GraphQL queries, Liquid templates and extensions against Shopify's schemas1. It comes as a plugin, as agent skills, or as the local Dev MCP server1. Through Shopify CLI it can prepare and run store-management tasks, with the user choosing when to run them1.

How it connects to your store

Runs in the developer's AI tool (Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity CLI, Cursor, VS Code and others)1. The Dev MCP server runs locally and needs no authentication; it reaches Shopify's developer resources, not store data1. Store data is reached through Shopify CLI: store auth stores an access token, and store execute runs Admin API GraphQL queries or mutations on a store2,3.
